Today I took half day leave to accompany my mom to for her medical appointment @ AH, 3.30pm. The day before we have already planned to eat the Fried fish bee hoon at Alexandra village (the shop is inside a Kopitiam)
I left the office before 2pm and looking forward my lunch. But by the time I have reached, the uncle already finish washing up the store. My feeling is exactly the same as the weather at that time, raining heavily with thunder. In the end, I only eat the famous Laksa in the AV. The Laksa is very nice too, but i love to eat soupy things during rainy days.
I really wish to eat the fried fish bee hoon de... Normally, I only take fresh fish but this store is very famous for their fried fish. The fried fish actual it is kind of hard, but if you dip it into the soup the fish will turn very crispy. The best part is even you finish the whole bowl of soup and bee hoon then you eat the fish, it is still very crispy de lor. That is the most amazing thing. The soup contain some wine, it have very nice smell and the soup taste unique. The uncle give very generous serving of greens. Well that it why a lot of white collar worker willing to Q for 15 to 20 mins to eat that. The most WOW that is that it only cost $2.50.
Even our boss drive us to AV for lunch, we also don't have enough time to rush back to office. Only pin my hope on my mom next medical appointment...
To side line a bit, from young till now only 2 store that make me have the slight feeling to quit my job and learn to cook from them. The first store is the uncle that sells beef noodle in Chinatown. I do really ask my mom to check out with the uncle whether he have any successor in mind, cos I will going to miss his beef noodle. Two years ago, I found out that the uncle son take over his shop, well his son does not cook as well as his dad, but never mind... The second shop is this fried fish bee hoon. I really wish to know the secret recipe for the amazing fried fish.
